Monette Bb trumpet from THE EARLY YEARS OF Monette ERA when in Chicago IL IN THE xxxxs !
This trumpet is one of the first xxxx trumpets made in the first David Monette shop back in the day in Chicago towards mid to later xxxxs. Serial range is in the later 8xx !!! . This trumpet is EXCELLENT CONDITION AND PLAYS INCREDIBLE ! Trumpet features still lighter construction design of mouthpiece receiver and the body/bell of the horn. I would describe weight as medium weight and I would say very slightly heavier than standard trumpet brand. I`m not the first owner of this trumpet but it appears that there are no any modifications done. Valve pistons have been originally made like this and/or upgraded by Monette later in life of the horn. There is a minor tarnish around like on all raw brass trumpets happens but not a lot ! If trumpet would be chemically cleaned those red spots would disappear but patina would get brighter as well and it would take some time to develop again. It is a raw brass with nickel accents. Many pro players prefer raw brass trumpets because of the way those horns sound ! It is stamped Monette Chicago on the 2nd nickel top part of the valve casing and serial is stamped on the other and lower side of the 2nd casing.
This is same model ( not exact same horn ) to the one Wynton Marsalis was playing on his earlier recordings like "Black Codes" and concerts including famous video "Blues & Swing" before switching to heavier Monettes. Also Roy Hargrove was playing this model for a while and it can be heard on his album "Family" and I believe "Parker Mood" Trio cd as well.
Going back to the horn. I owned this horn since the early xxxx and I only played it very rarely at home since I own many trumpets. This trumpet was also compared to other Monette Chicagos I have previously owned and sold but I kept this one the longest since I really liked her sound when comparing with others.
I describe it`s playability as : great sound medium dark , easy to get around in jazz playing and/or classical. It could be used for lead with shallower cup mouthpiece.
Trumpet was oiled and inspected from time to time. I believe this horn had 1 or 2 owners before me. Everything is working as it should. Valves and slides are fine. Compression is perfect like on all Monette trumpets. This horn plays with medium dark sound characteristic for those ealier Monette horns which is darker than conventional trumpets but still with a brighter timbre in the sound. You can use any Monette mouthpiece on it STC1 type B ( GOLD PLATED MOUTHIPIECE STC1 SIZE B6 WITH BURGUNDY COLOR POUCH IS INCLUDED AS ON PHOTOS ) but STC2 and STC3 will also work on it and Prana as well which will make a sound more airy since the back bores on those mouthpieces are larger/more open.
Valves has no wear and move fast and smooth. It is a HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE ONE OF EARLIEST MONETTE TRUMPETS EVER MADE ! DON`T MISS

Original Monette LEATHER single case from later era is also included. This case hold trumpet very well and trumpet does not move at all in it. Case is near perfect condition with all zippers working fine and has an original Monette strap as well.
I`m selling it only because I`m not playing it on a daily basis and only occasionally during practice sessions at my home. This horn should be played daily non stop.
